05/23/2012

What is cultural competency? Why do I need to understand or embrace it? What does it have to do with me? Why should I care? The Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) requested assistance with addressing cultural competency as it relates to the work of their Behavior Initiative. Dr. Generett answered the request by working with a core group of educational consultants as they grappled with these questions. This session will provide insight into the PaTTAN journey towards cultural competence. Participants will interact with the tenets of cultural competence, engage in discussions of self-awareness and discovery and learn about the commitment of becoming culturally competent through the journey of others. PaTTAN educational consultants will share their personal and professional experiences, how this journey has impacted their work on the behavior initiative and highlight next steps in the process.
