Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit #21, in collaboration with Lehigh County Systems of Care (SoC), is one of three schools entities in Pennsylvania that is the recipient of the Safe School Healthy Student Grant. The team will provide information on the systematic process used for developing collaborative partnerships between schools implementing PBIS and County Systems of Care (SOC). An Interconnected Systems Framework in collaboration with community partners provides the mental health supports for high risk students to prevent bullying, decrease violent behavior and substance abuse through scale up of multi-tiered SWPBIS.

Access all of the sessions at https://pattanliteracysymposium22.sched.com/ Educational initiatives to improve reading outcomes by implementing the findings from the science of reading are being established in school systems across the country. In order for those initiatives to be sustainable and successful, multiple stakeholders must ensure that the roles they play are fully committed to the effort. This presentation will focus on the stakeholder role of the literacy leader in a school system such as building principals, curriculum directors, and superintendents. A case study of a successful implementation will be highlighted. Without knowledgeable, committed leadership, educators cannot fully implement the practices needed for transformation. But together, educators and leaders can create equitable access to literacy practices that are grounded in the science of reading for the sake of their student, ensuring that the initiative they embark upon is impactful and sustainable.

This session will focus on Lewistown Intermediate's Tier 2 processes, forms, curriculum decision-making, & information-sharing strategies. We will discuss our Tier 2 interventions & documentation to track progress. This is beneficial for those interested in Tier 2 processes & effective curriculum decision-making. We will provide attendees with electronic & paper resources we utilize in our Tier 2 processes.

We will share our hands-on experience to give you a “Pinterest Board” full of exciting ideas for an entire school year of student and teacher incentives! We will explain the link between increasing student/ community involvement and teacher buy-in can help increase desired behaviors and sustain Tier 1 fidelity, with flair!

The Team-Initiated Problem Solving Model II (TIPS II) will be shared with participants as a process used during school-based problem solving team meetings in order to identify, address, and resolve student social and academic behavior problems through specific interactions with data and data systems. This session will focus on an elementary school’s method of guiding conversations around whole school data in Tier 1 meetings using TIPS-II.

The House System is the magic ingredient to transforming a school into a family. We will give you practical and creative solutions to create an environment where students and staff have a sense of belonging. Our tips will help you to create and maintain SWPBIS at Tier 1.

The success of PBIS implementation has greatly impacted the school culture and community in two small rural schools in Karns City School District. With the many systems at work, including, SAP, MTSS, SWPBIS and Title I, the presenters will share how the coordination of their efforts have created a fun and engaged student, staff, and family environment within their schools.

This interactive session will provide time for attendees to collaborate and gain ideas about reinstituting a school-wide PBIS program after the pandemic. We will explore the following topics together: getting buy-in from teachers and staff, how to make dynamic school wide assemblies fun, interactive, and impactful, the importance of mid-year refreshers, and the need for every day lessons being reinforced and modeled on school wide expected behavior.
