It’s important to tie interventions to core content, especially for students learning more complex math. In this workshop, participants will learn how to analyze student data to identify intervention content. Further, Dr. Witzel will discuss different intervention delivery schedules.

You will be provided with tools to supplement evidence -based multi-tiered systems of support for Tier 2 students through the use of (CICO). Participants will leave with evidence-based programming knowledge, resources ready for implementation according to your needs, and a timeline for successful implementation. You will leave with copies of digital documents via Google Drive to calculate automatically and analyze student data/progress based on individual student goals.

This session will offer a variety of multi-modal strategies for teaching foundation skills. Beginning with numeracy and place value concepts we will connect to higher level operations. Participants will utilize manipulatives, graphic organizers, and concise explicit language for supporting students in developing sound reasoning and memory for initial math concepts.

Session will present creative ways to refresh students on PBIS expectations and reinforce following school rules, discuss ideas on encouraging staff to feel renewed as well as ideas for fundraising ideas.

Thanks to recent increased research on mathematics interventions, there are more evidence-based practices available to secondary math educators. In this workshop, participants set-up targeted interventions that both build foundational skills and prepare for success in secondary content using scaffolded representations.

How can we better manage bus behavior? Valley View Elementary has successfully tackled this question using a multi-tiered system of supports. Through an interactive presentation, attendees will learn how to decrease bus referrals and will leave with simple ideas to implement into their own community of learning right away. Discover Tier 1 initiatives to seamlessly incorporate into any existing PBS program, and a Tier 2 intervention that only requires one faculty member.

Math is cumulative–or relentlessly hierarchical–making mastery of foundational concepts essential for student success. A key ingredient in developing fluency and confidence is frequent, purposeful practice. Yet, practice is sometimes misunderstood or undervalued. Rather than being seen as tedious, practice should be embraced and celebrated as an indispensable tool for student success—but some approaches are more effective than others. We will explore strategies for structuring practice, integrating practice into daily math lessons, and appropriately breaking down concepts for novice learners. Attendees will gain practical techniques to ensure students have the opportunities they need to build a strong mathematical foundation.

Examines the impact of formative assessment on the instructional process. By focusing on key strategies—providing multiple opportunities to respond, utilizing active engagement practices, and providing feedback—learn how to adapt teaching given data from formative assessments. Highlights how small changes in teaching practices result in improvements in student outcomes.

The students on our team shine on stage as they dazzle you with their leadership skills. This act will make you push the button and turn your PBIS chair around! Join us to learn our framework which relies on incorporating student voice for a successful PBIS implementation.

Consider that there are 23,363 schools using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. That is approximately 11,762,345 students receiving supports within a PBIS framework (pbis.org). Each student attends approximately 180 days per school year which translates to 950 hours or 57,000 minutes of instruction (www.centerforpubliceducation.org). This equates to 670,453,665,000 moments per student per year. Education is a profession with challenges and demands every minute; a high rate of decision-making every minute; and, high stakes. In each moment, we have the opportunity to improve the likelihood of our students’ and educators’ success. If we have a bad moment, we can turn that moment around and make the next moment better!
