Speaking: Stephanie Dill Huggins, MA, BCBA
3/3/2026

This Hour with the Expert session provides educators with a foundational understanding of students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) and on the Autism Spectrum. Participants will explore the current state of the D/HH + ASD field, examine common diagnostic barriers, and unpack overlapping and distinguishing characteristics of deafness and autism. The presentation also highlights the impact of language access and the risks associated with language deprivation syndrome. Through research, practical examples, and educator-focused reflection, this session builds a framework for informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate support for students with dual diagnoses.
