Children’s ability to learn and thrive depends on more than just what is taught—it’s also shaped by how they access sound and social interaction. This webinar explores the critical role of acoustic environments and social exposure in supporting language development, executive function, and Theory of Mind. Participants will learn how factors like signal-to-noise ratio impact listening, how remote microphone systems can enhance communication at home and school, and why social engagement and incidental learning are essential for building attention, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Join us to discover practical strategies for creating environments that foster both auditory access and meaningful social learning.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Explain how information transfer and signal-to-noise ratio affect a child’s ability to access sound.
- Identify how remote microphone systems can improve listening environments at school and at home.
- Describe how social interaction and exposure support the development of Executive Functions, such as attention, self-regulation, and problem-solving.
- State how incidental learning and language development contribute to the growth of Executive Functions and Theory of Mind (ToM) - the ability to understand others’ thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
