Working in partnership with other early childhood educators is one of the foundations of high-quality inclusion. Join us on your own or bring a partner to dig into the components of collaboration necessary to ensure effective inclusion for all children. Activities will be presented to examine how laws, regulations, policies and guidance support inclusion for children in early childhood classrooms across PA. Topics covered will include confidentiality, disability language, collaboration with colleagues, and the relevance of terms like access, participation and supports. Come ready to participate in small group activities and self-reflection.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Define Access, Participation and Supports as it pertains to inclusion for young children.
- Define the laws, regulations and policies that guide Early Childhood Programs across Pennsylvania.
- Identify verbal and written communication skills needed for teaming and collaboration.
- Identify scenarios of confidentiality in the classroom.
- Identify the difference between “People First Language” and “Identity First Language”.
Target Audience
Classroom teachers, early intervention staff and others working in early childhood settings across Pennsylvania.
