This session will provide participants with big ideas on the why, what, and how of using the Response to Intervention (RTI) approach to identification of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). Participants will learn about the rationale for implementing RTI for SLD within the context of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), essential components and operationalizations used in an RTI for SLD approach, and the updated procedures for school teams to apply to implement RTI for SLD.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe a rationale for the use of RTI approach to identify SLD.
  • Describe essential components and operationalizations used in an RTI for SLD approach.
  • Identify the process in Pennsylvania for school teams to apply to implement RTI for SLD.
