The Pennsylvania Fellowship Program (PFP) for School-Age Special Education Leaders is a year-long, comprehensive professional development initiative designed to build leadership capacity and provide participants with a systems-level understanding of special education.
The program engages Fellows in a continuum of learning, networking, and mentoring experiences that enhance their ability to design and implement effective programming to ensure success for all students with disabilities.
The PFP is specifically intended for professionals with three years or less of experience as a special education leader. While titles may vary across Pennsylvania’s local educational agencies—including Special Education Director, Special Education Supervisor, Special
Education Coordinator, and Director of Pupil Services—a special education leader is defined as an individual with primary responsibility for the oversight of special education supports, programs, and services within a local education agency. Professionals serving in this capacity in a school-age setting are strongly encouraged to apply..
Objectives
- Identify and utilize state-level supports, tools, and services available for special education leaders and educators.
- Design and evaluate the components of your school or district’s special education program with a focus on structure, compliance, and effectiveness.
- Establish systems, processes, and staffing models that support sustainable, high-quality special education services.
Target Audience
