This professional development session is designed to support EI professionals as they guide families through the important transition from infant toddler early intervention to Preschool EI or the community. The training will provide a foundational overview of the transition process, including a review of federal and state regulations, EI announcements, timelines, roles, and responsibilities, as well as strategies and resources to ensure smooth and effective transitions for children and families. The training will also afford participants an opportunity to examine and analyze the components needed to develop individualized transition plans as well as the opportunity to reflect on local procedures for successful implementation.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the state and federal regulations as well as the PA EI Announcements that guide the transition process.
- List the scheduled times required for compliance with the transition process.
- Describe the pathway and required components essential to developing an IEP.
- Describe key activities in the transition process, including steps leading up to the transition meeting, actions taken during the meeting, and follow-up steps after the meeting.
- Describe and define the strengths and areas of growth within the local program process.
Target Audience
This foundational session is designed for EI professionals supporting infants or toddlers transitioning to preschool EI and/or the community.
