This professional development session is designed to support EI professionals as they guide families through the transition from Preschool Early Intervention to Kindergarten. The training will provide a foundational overview of the transition process, including a review of federal and state regulations, EI announcements, timelines, roles, and responsibilities, as well as strategies and resources to ensure smooth and effective transitions for children and families. The training will also afford participants an opportunity to examine and analyze the components needed to develop individualized transition plans as well as an opportunity to reflect upon their local procedures for successful implementation.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Discuss the federal and state regulations and PA EI Announcements that guide the transition from Preschool Early Intervention to Kindergarten process.
- Identify the timelines and forms required for compliance with the transition process.
- List the steps and required components necessary to develop an individualized transition plan.
- Describe and explain the transition process related to activities leading up to and including the meeting as well as and next steps following the transition to kindergarten meeting.
- Identify and discuss areas for growth within their local programs transition processes and procedures.
Target Audience
This foundational session is designed for EI professionals supporting infants or toddlers transitioning to preschool EI and/or the community.
