This session will provide an overview of the implementation of sensory integration in the school setting. The session will focus on the difference between sensory-based interventions and sensory integration. The session will provide practical ways to implement evidence-based interventions in the school setting through a multi-tiered systems of supports model. A specific focus will be provided on how to successfully implement evidence-based interventions at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels.
Objectives
- Differentiate between Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) and sensory-based interventions (SBI) and explain the role of each in the school setting.
- Identify evidence-based sensory intervention strategies that can be implemented within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, with a specific focus on Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels.
- Apply and evaluate evidence-based sensory strategies to support students' needs.
