This series focuses on writing instruction for students in grades 1-8. Evidence-based practices from the Institute of Education Sciences’ (IES) practice guides for “Teaching Elementary and Secondary Students to be Effective Writers” will be used to frame series content. Overall, training will emphasize how to teach the writing process, apply the writing process to genre-specific writing, use writing for learning, and differentiate instruction for students by enhancing writing materials, addressing quality features of writing by integrating reading and writing instruction, and using writing strategies.

This workshop is designed exclusively for those individuals who will be teaching teachers in Effective Core Writing Instruction at the Sentence Level in the future.  Participants must attend Effective Core Writing Instruction at the Sentence Level workshop offered prior to this workshop in order to be eligible to register and attend.
