This interactive session will focus on best practices for promoting achievement among children growing up in poverty and low-income homes. The speaker will discuss historical aspects that have led to systemic racism and inequities that currently exist and influence student progress. The session will review evidence from empirical research studies that have specifically focused on children from disadvantaged homes and communities. The session will highlight methods and strategies from a strength-based perspective.
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators and teachers, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, professional development staff, and families of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend.
