DATA MATERIALS

Data utilization as part of a school's implementation of SWPBIS is critical to the implementation with high fidelity.

As part of the Network, schools are required to submit both fidelity, outcomes, and staff perception data. This data is analyzed to guide statewide implementation of SWBPIS. Click here to see executive summaries for the PAPBS Network.

ANNUAL DATA

Each year, school teams provide annual data to contribute to the Annual Evaluation for PAPBS.  Annual data is collected after the prior school year closes (after June 30th). This data is used to answer outcome questions and can also be used as system level data for LEA's to determine long term trends and outcomes. This data is subject to change, based upon the research questions for the evaluation.

Annual data includes:

  • # of students
  • # of school days
  • # of Major Office Discipline Referrals
  • # of days of out-of-school suspensions
  • # of students expelled
  • # of students receiving special education outside of neighborhood school
  • # of students receiving special education outside of neighborhood school with emotional disabilities

PERCEPTUAL DATA FROM STAFF

Each year, school teams collect perceptual data using a validated and reliable measured called the Self Assessment Survey. Ideally, all staff is invited to participate in providing feedback on questions about PBIS. For recognition purposes, the Network requires a minimum of 80% certificated staff members to complete the survey.  These surveys need to be completed prior to the first training day and then every year in the spring thereafter to provide information to the team. This feedback is also used to help score fidelity measures that are conducted each spring.

FIDELITY MEASURES:

Fidelity measures are the hallmark of process data used by schools to determine the quality of implementation and to help schools determine meaningful action steps to improve the quality of their framework. The Network uses 2 fidelity inventories: Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ) and the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI).  The Benchmarks of Quality is recommended to be used before and during installation efforts of Tier 1.  The Tiered Fidelity Inventory is recommeded for existing implementing teams and is inclusive of all three tiers.

Network Facilitators facilitate the appropriate fidelity measure as part of ongoing supports and to meet the recognition application expectations annually in the spring. Scores from the spring fidelity inventory are entered into PBISAssessments.

SWPBIS Press Release Template

A sample press release has been drafted by the PAPBS State Coordinators and Co-Directors. The sample press release can be used to announce to your local media the milestone that your school has reached: Implementation of SWPBIS with fidelity at the universal level. Congratulations, once again, on your accomplishments.

While you consider sharing your good news with your local community, consider sharing with your PAPBS Facilitator the different ways you have publicized your positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) program. Please take a few moments to forward samples of your newsletters, articles or other announcements you have used to feature PBIS in your school’s community.
