District and Intermediate Unit special education administrators are invited to join this interactive discussion with speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to learn about school-age eligibility, the language-literacy connection and its impact on education, everyday successes and challenges for SLPs, and innovative practices for systems change. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance and throughout the panel discussion. After having open conversations with the panelists regarding school-age services and programs, administrators will leave with resources and ideas to support SLPs and facilitate changes related to speech-language pathology in schools. Come be a part of the conversation. Come be a part of the change!

Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the scope and role of the speech-language pathologist in schools.
  • Identify the current successes and challenges facing speech-language pathologists in schools.
  • Describe ways to manage workloads of speech-language pathologists in schools.
  • Explain novel options for speech-language service delivery models in schools.
