This discussion will focus on teaching practices for learners who are visually impaired and working on self-determination and/or self-advocacy skills at a middle school level.

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of self-advocacy/self-determination instruction at the middle school level for learners who are visually impaired.
  • Identify three or more resources that can help support instruction of self-advocacy and self-determination.
  • Describe what self-determination and self-advocacy for visually impaired middle school learners entails.
