Young children benefit from both free play and guided play, as these both help to build children's capacities in all areas of development. This session will explore the role of adults in supporting children during play.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify how play develops in young children.
  2. Identify the difference between free and guided play.
  3. Identify the core skills that children develop through play and how to promote these skills.

Target Audience

This training is intended for Early Intervention service personnel/providers, early childhood education professionals, and parents.
