Unified English Braille Resources and Technical Content

This one day session will focus on the familiarization of Unified English Braille (UEB) resources, materials, and strategies for instructing students who are making the transition from English Braille American Edition (EBAE) to UEB. The afternoon will focus on the basics of preparing technical content material in UEB including science, science notation, and math.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • List available UEB resources and materials
  • Discuss issues and teaching strategies relating to the transition to UEB for students currently using EBAE
  • Demonstrate understanding of the basics of UEB by discussing how the same symbols are used in both non-technical and technical contexts

TVIs, paraprofessionals, administrators, and others interested in this topic

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
