This is a series focused on best practices and resources for secondary transition for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participants will utilize state and national resources to develop action plans for individual students and for their own professional development. The days will provide a collaborative and comprehensive way to develop transition skills, activities and IEP transition planning that creates a seamless process for identification of transition needs and services that are aligned to Indicator 13.Through collaboration activities, participants will deepen their knowledge around specific transition content and apply practices to their instructional day.
Objectives
- Demonstrate proficient navigation through online resources
Summarize tools and assessments for secondary transition
- Assist students in their development of self-advocacy skills
- Participate in on-line discussions
- Develop and implement student specific action plans to address transition needs
- Participate in person-centered planning activities
- Write compliant and effective transition plans including Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance and measurable annual goals
- Create a network of teachers who can serve as mentors
Target Audience
Teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Teachers who work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
