The new edition of this tool has been released to provide more specific information to practitioners and families about the contents of the Reevaluation Report and is not due to any change in the law, regulations or state forms associated with these documents. Ind. 13 Ensuring Success and Compliance - Handouts and Resources

In response to the accountability requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004, Part B State Performance Plans, the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) will be providing a required training session for local educational agencies targeted for Compliance Monitoring for Continuous Improvement (CMCI) for the this school year. The purpose of this training is to prepare local educational agencies for the requirements of compliance monitoring as it relates to secondary transition and to highlight effective practices in secondary transition. Participants will be given tools which will allow them to critically review IEPs for compliance and effective practices and to assist teachers in enhancing the development of IEPs.

A9. Alternate Eligible Content: Pathway to Standards-Aligned Instruction

Participants will be provided information in regard to supporting teachers with prioritizing and supporting instruction aligned to the alternate eligible content for students with significant cognitive disabilities who are eligible to take the Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment (PASA). Included in this session will be a discussion regarding prioritizing alternate eligible content for instruction; supports and resources to plan and implement instruction of alternate eligible content within a multi-grade classroom; instruction of alternate eligible content within the general education classroom; and considerations of alternate eligible content and transition outcomes. Updates for the 2017 PASA will also be provided.

ECO 201 for EI Providers: Effective Strategies to Ensure High Quality ECO Data

ECO 201 training sessions are designed for all early intervention staff who are regularly involved in collecting child outcome data. The training will focus on effective strategies to ensure the highest quality and greatest reliability of ECO data. Topics covered will include: strategies to increase the effectiveness of measuring child performance on an authentic assessment tool, involving families in collecting ECO data, strategies for gathering functional child performance, and using the decision tree to make reliable ECO ratings. Integrating Speech and ABA-Based Programs- A Closer Look at Speech Training

This training will provide a follow up to the training from October 2014 including an advanced description of the conceptual and applied practices that promote acquisition of vocal verbal behavior for students with autism in school settings. The content will build upon the prior training to focus on developing an integrated speech acquisition program to be guided by both speech and language clinicians and behavior analysts. Outcomes will instruct practices that can be utilized by classroom teachers across the students’ school day. The training will review processes related to sequences of speech skill acquisition, assessment, place, voice and manner features of speech sounds, stimulus-stimulus pairing, the role of the echoic and mand training in speech acquisition, increasing vocal variability, rapid motor imitation antecedent training (RMIA), and other evidence based approaches. Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis: Evidence-Based Early Intervention Teaching Practices

This training will focus on the application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles as a foundation for instruction of young children. The sessions will include an overview of positive behavior supports and ABA teaching procedures. Definitions and examples demonstrating a variety of behavioral teaching strategies that can be used to teach skills across all domains will be examined. This training will require two days of participation by all attendees. Day one of the training will focus on the core principles of ABA and participants recognizing the scientific and technological nature of the practices. Following the first session, participants will implement strategies in their own work with children and collect data to be analyzed during the second session. Part two will involve participants demonstrating the use of ABA practices in designing instruction for young children.
