Special Education Administrators Networking Series (2025-2026)
Stay informed and connected through this engaging series designed specifically for special education administrators. Each session will feature timely updates and resources from Bureau of Special Education (BSE) and PaTTAN staff, followed by opportunities for discussion and peer networking. Additional sessions coming soon!
Advisors from the Bureau of Special Education Restraint Information System of Collection (RISC) team will provide an overview of the program, highlighting critical regulatory information, updated guidelines, and reporting requirements for LEAs, as well as the investigatory process related to RISC. Key terms, a step-by-step guide for reporting restraints in the Pennsylvania Integrated Monitoring System (PDE IMS), and the connection of RISC to Cyclical Monitoring will be provided. Administrators will also engage in networking and discussion around using RISC data to strengthen systems of support, reduce the need for restraint, and improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
Objectives
- Describe the purpose, structure, and critical regulatory requirements of the RISC Program.
- Explain the investigatory process and summarize reporting requirements for LEAs.
- Apply updated RISC Guidelines.
- Engage in networking discussions to exchange strategies and clarify questions.
