During this session, presenters will facilitate discussion with participants to develop a vision for the promotion of occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) and physical therapy practitioners (PTPs) involvement in MTSS teams within their school setting. Participants will create an initial list of classroom routines and expectations, with presenters emphasizing the following: areas of need from a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach; potential strategies for optimal student participation; collaborative coaching models, and/or staff education to support whole classroom and/or building initiatives. Participants will be encouraged to finalize a timeline for exploration and/or implementation of an MTSS program within their workplace setting. Participants will be expected to engage in facilitated discussion via breakout rooms.
Objectives
- Develop a vision for the promotion of occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) and physical therapy practitioners (PTPs) involvement in MTSS teams within the school setting.
- Create an initial list of classroom routines and expectations that include:
*Identifying areas of need from a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach,
*Devising potential strategies for optimal student participation, and
*Expanding knowledge in the areas of collaborative coaching models and/or staff education to support whole classroom and/or building initiatives.
- Finalize a timeline for exploration and/or implementation of an MTSS program within the workplace setting.
