Coaching caregivers is both an art and a science. This training will begin by outlining the technical aspects of caregiver coaching. The Teaching and Learning Cycle will be reviewed and each caregiver coaching strategy will be defined with opportunities to observe examples through video. The second part of this training will guide participants to practice the different strategies and identify how to match the different strategies to the varying needs of caregivers.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Define Caregiver Coaching Strategies identified on PA session note
  2. Explain the Teaching and Learning Cycle
  3. Identify how the Teaching and Learning Cycle supports matching specific Caregiver Coaching Strategies to match each caregiver’s needs.

Target Audience

Special Instructors, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists who are working in Infant Toddler Early Intervention.
