This course focuses on teaching and learning computer programming with accessible block technologies. Topics include foundational programming concepts (e.g., variables, conditionals, loops), the use of blocks in the context of learning programming, an introduction to text-based programming, and using blocks in an accessible context (e.g., screen readers, keyboard or mouse interactions).
Objectives
Educators engaged in the course will:
- Develop programs that include sequences, events, loops, and conditionals.
- Compare and contrast block-based programming and text-based programming
- Describe accessibility considerations for teaching with block-based programming
Target Audience
Training and Consultation (Tac) involved in the CSinPA TACTICS team and teachers of the visually impaired (TVI).
