This workshop will examine the roles of Early Intervention (EI) itinerant professionals in early childhood classrooms. Practices will be provided to move from the role of a direct service provider or tutor and transition to a model that promotes the EI role as consultant and coach. The discussion will include a review of the research and evidence-based practices that support this model.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic models for developing consultation services in preschool EI services
- Identify strategies for providing effective consultative services, including use of curriculum planning tools and child progress monitoring tools
- Demonstrate how to use an electronic consultation log to document delivery of service and record changes in practice
Target Audience
This training is for invited Early Intervention and Early Childhood administrators and staff only.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
