Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education (ED). This training is especially helpful for administrators who oversee students in their schools who qualify for 504 Service Agreements. This training will provide administrators with information on Section 504 including:

Please join us for an informational session, with time for discussions, regarding meeting the needs of your students who qualify for 504 Service Agreements.
Objectives
Participants will:
- List the federal and state regulations related to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Define disabilities related to Section 504
- Identify the anti-discrimination protections for all 504 eligible students
- Identify the components of service agreements and types of services and accommodations available
- Understand district responsibilities under Section 504
- Problem solve potential 504 solutions related to specific case studies
Target Audience
General education and special education administrators, general or special education teachers, guidance counselors or anyone who oversees the 504 Service Agreements within their school/district.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
