This professional development opportunity will model the SLO process and documentation for classroom teaching professionals as recommended by PDE and the inclusion of CDT data. This is a train-the-trainer session with a targeted audience of intermediate unit and PaTTAN staff.

The Pennsylvania Classroom Diagnostic Tools (CDT) is a set of online assessments, divided by content area, designed to provide diagnostic information in order to guide instruction, intervention, and enrichment. The CDT reporting system is fully integrated in the Standards Aligned System (SAS), the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) comprehensive approach to support student achievement across the commonwealth.

The teacher Student Learning Objective (SLO) is a process to document a measure of educator effectiveness based on student achievement of content standards. SLOs are a part of Pennsylvania’s multiple-measure, comprehensive system of Educator Effectiveness authorized by Act 82.

Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Customize professional development at their respective educational facilities for school district, charter school, and nonpublic school teachers, supervisors and administrators.
  2. Model opportunities and hands-on experiences with the SLOs using multiple measures of data collection, including the CDT. This will be modeled with both Algebra I and Grade 4 English Language Arts data.
  3. Participate in deep analysis of CDT CSV data files as well as hands-on experience in calculating SLOs in order to provide training to fully support the utilization of the CDT in connection with the teacher SLO process for the 2016-2017 school year.
