The 2015 Pennsylvania Low Incidence Institute: High Expectations for Achievement is a four day conference that will focus on topics related to serving students and young children with deafness and hearing loss, blindness, deaf-blindness,visual impairment, intellectual disabilities, traumatic and brain injury, and multiple disabilities.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Analyze knowledge gained in topic areas related to best practice for students with low incidence disabilities.
- List strategies for increasing academic performance of students with sensory and multiple disabilities.
- Explore Sessions noted as "Great Start" to specifically target strategies for instructing children with sensory impairments, birth through age 6.
- Discuss use of data to focus interventions for student achievement of school aged students with complex instructional needs.
Target Audience
Parents, teachers, speech and language clinicians, audiologists, paraprofessionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, consultants, service coordinators, and administrators working with these students are invited to attend.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
