This training will focus on ways Special Education leaders can improve their conversations with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. principals, parents, teachers, etc.), in order to promote our students´ academic, social, and emotional growth. Topics will include conversation beliefs, listening with empathy, finding common ground, asking better questions, building trust, and more.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify 6 beliefs to having a better conversation
- State 4 strategies to demonstrate listening with empathy
- List ways to find common ground
- Describe 2 strategies to build trust in a conversation
Target Audience
Special education leaders who have been part of one of the past cohorts of the Pennsylvania Fellowship Program.
Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
