This training sessions offered during this conference are for parents and educators to increase their knowledge on topics related to students with special needs, including: secondary transition, biology and behavior of students with autism spectrum disorder; development of social, behavior, and emotional skills for elementary and secondary students; inclusive practices; understanding the evaluation process; and, the functional behavior assessment.

Objectives

Conference Objectives: Participants will increase their skills in their field of expertise and acquire new knowledge of specific areas relating to children who have special learning needs. Participants will increase their overall knowledge of the special education system. Provide an opportunity for parents, teachers, social workers, and therapists to interact together in acquiring new information, resources and evidence based practices, and learning how to implement this knowledge in the classroom and everyday life.

Parents, Special education teachers, general education teachers

Individuals attending this course must arrive on time and stay the duration of the course in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education hours. Requests for exceptions are to be brought to the attention of the individual´s Superintendent or IU Director prior to the course.
