It is a fundamental assumption for successful RTI implementation that a large percentage of students are proficient in reading and math, but that is rarely the reality in schools. This session will demonstrate how to use screening data to identify the need for tier 1 interventions, how to implement them for reading and math, and the effects of doing so for student learning and RTI implementation.

Objectives

Upon completion of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify a classwide need from universal screening data.
  2. Implement a classwide intervention for early literacy, reading, and math.
  3. Discuss and demonstrate the effects on student learning and systems of intervention.
