Participants will expand their knowledge of the science of reading and apply that knowledge via the adoption and sound implementation of evidence-based practices. They will also enhance core reading instruction and align increasingly intensive supports and services across tiered providers using a problem-solving process grounded in equitable access and that includes an emphasis on meaningful family engagement.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Analyze system, grade, and student data to identify general and targeted areas of improvement to inform instruction and intervention
  • Describe the conceptual underpinnings and components of a tiered system of support and connections to the science of reading and prevention of early reading failure
  • Identify a major theoretical literacy framework and the big ideas in reading
  • Synthesize student growth and achievement data to inform eligibility decision-making using an RTI approach and best practices/research in SLD Identification


Target Audience

Administrators, General Education Teachers (K-2), Special Education Teachers (K-2), School Psychologist, Literacy Specialist, MTSS Coordinator, School Improvement Specialist, ESL Provider,  Speech Language Therapist, Family Member, Curriculum Coordinator Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event.
