Participants will review the principles and practices associated with explicit instruction to inform and enhance instructional design and delivery toward improved levels of student engagement and academic, behavioral and social-emotional outcomes.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify components of explicit instruction lessons development and design.
  • Describe characteristics of active student participation.
  • List the examples of verbal, written and active student participation and the benefits of eliciting frequent responses.
  • Plan and insert active participation activities within a lesson.
