During this virtual networking session, autistic support teachers will learn about and discuss transition planning and programming for students with autism spectrum disorder. Presenters will share research data about important skills to address, outcomes data, and will facilitate discussion regarding strategies to teach and integrate these skills in the classroom, community, and independent living settings. Various models of transition programs in schools will be shared. Transition resources such as the Career Readiness Skills, community and agency supports, and PaTTAN initiative supports will be highlighted. Join us to network with fellow educators working to address transition for students with autism across the elementary, middle, and high school settings.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the skills identified in research that are important for educators to address for transition from school to life beyond the classroom for student with autism
  • Identify evidence-based strategies educators can use to teach transition skills to students with autism
  • Discuss resources that are available for educators to access to support decision-making in transition for students with autism
