The series Prevent Teach Reinforce for Young Children is a manualized functional behavior assessment process to support the development of individualized behavior intervention plans within early childhood classrooms. These sessions are targeted for individuals leading and facilitating a team through the PTR-YC process.
There will be tasks assigned for application between sessions that facilitators will incorporate into their daily work and be expected to share out at following sessions. Participants will be expected to identify a child in need of individualized, intensive behavioral support to work through the PTR-YC process in collaboration with the child’s service team and family. A child should be identified by the third session in the series.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Describe prevention strategies and plan interim procedures to promote safe classroom management while a behavior plan is being developed.
- Identify the essential parts of the PTR-YC process and their purpose
- Develop a behavioral hypothesis statement and select strategies that match the function of the behavior.
- Implement strategies developed as part of the individualized behavior plan and use data to make decisions regarding fidelity of implementation and plan effectiveness.
- Implement the PTR-YC model with an identified child and team within their program.
Target Audience
This session is intended for early childhood professionals who have a basic understanding of behavioral principles and who anticipate leading teams of professionals through the PTR-YC process. Likely job roles include Early Interventionists, behavior consultants/behavior specialists, preschool psychologists, social workers, mental health consultants, etc.
