This training demonstrates the difference in brain functioning between traumatized and non-traumatized individuals when a trigger causes the perception of threat (whether real or not). It focuses on a two pathway Road Resilience Model that includes the “Eight Essentials” that foster secure relationships that help students feel safe and daily practices that foster interoceptive intelligence to increase emotional regulation, focus and empathy.

Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Name the two pathways proposed in the Resilience Roadmap Model necessary for the development of emotional regulation and social-emotional growth.
  2. Describe the differences in the functioning of the brain’s neural circuitry of traumatized versus non-traumatized individuals and how this relates to faulty impulse control.
  3. Identify two classroom practices that build self-awareness of interoception (physical sensations) that underlie emotional regulation and two essential for healthy relationships.
