This networking series will provide Teachers of the Deaf and others interested participants updates regarding revisions to the Communication Plan (CP) and the PA Expanded Core Resources (ECR). Attend these sessions to become familiar with the revised Communication Plan and PA Expanded Core Resources for students who are deaf/hard of hearing. There will also be a networking opportunity for all participants to discuss how to use these resources.
- The primary purpose of the Communication Plan is to establish discussion among all IEP team members who review the student’s needs based on communication skills and access. The result of this discussion should be used to identify the student’s present educational levels as well as to complete other sections of the IEP, including appropriate specially designed instruction and IEP goals.
- The primary purpose of the ECR is to describe the functional skills that our students may need to gain better access to the general curriculum and to improve a students’ readiness for learning in the core curriculum by focusing on targeted skills for IEP goals, SDI, and/or related services that we know can improve access.
