This series, developed as part of PaTTAN’s Attract-Prepare-Retain (APR) efforts, is offered to novice special education teachers who are newly supporting students with complex learning needs. The series will introduce new special education teachers working with students with intellectual disabilities, significant cognitive disabilities, multiple disabilities, and other complex communication and learning needs to others in similar teaching assignments.
Each session will utilize the High Leverage Practices, (HLPs) developed by The CEEDAR Center and The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), as its foundation. The HLPs will provide a starting point for conversations, sharing resources, asking questions, and building a valued community.
Consider joining these sessions to strengthen your personal resource “toolbox” and create a supportive network of fellow teachers across the commonwealth who have similar teaching assignments.
Target Audience
Special Education Teachers with three years of experience or less in classrooms supporting students with intellectual disabilities, significant cognitive disabilities, multiple disabilities, and other complex communication and learning needs.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event. Contact: Annette Bauerlein, at 610-878-7211, or abauerlein@pattan.net.
