Participants in this course will explore how to write both transition goals and measurable annual goals that directly impact post-secondary transition. Various ways of reflecting upon the development of goals and objectives, including techniques such as task analysis, connection to the PA Core Standards, and collection of baseline data will be examined. Participants will be familiarized with the the Career Education and Work Standards, as well as the PA Future Ready Index. Participants will also examine NTACT and PA Secondary Transition resources to support the development of transition-oriented goals and IEPs.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop three goals, one relating to each domain of transition planning, which also include all required elements of measurable annual goals
  • Create a task analysis of at least four steps based on a skill identified within the PA Career Education and Work Standards
  • Identify three ways to engage students with significant complex disabilities within their own transition goal selection
