This event is by invitation only. You must have a registration key in order to register.

Participants will review how to assess for specific learning disabilities (SLD) using a responsiveness to intervention (RTI) approach. Specifically, attendees will learn to operationalize level of performance using contemporary approaches using existing data. Next, attendees will operationalize how responsiveness to intervention within a well-implemented multi-tiered system of support using contemporary practices and empirically-validated techniques.

Consideration and documentation of federally-required classroom observations and rule-out criteria (e.g., lack of instruction; other conditions; environmental/economic disadvantage; limited English proficiency) will also be reviewed.

Case studies will be used to illustrate how to document all required elements of a comprehensive evaluation for SLD using RTI methodologies.

Attendees will:

  1. Compare and contrast three contemporary operationalizations of level of performance.
  2. Describe and compare/contrast contemporary operationalizations of responsiveness to intervention.
  3. Explain how systematic observations are used to inform instruction and intervention planning while meeting federal requirements for the evaluation of an SLD.
  4. Identify the criteria that must be ruled out when evaluating for SLD
