During this training, MTSS school team members will examine the tier 3 problem solving process and the critical instructional design features required for tier 3 intervention. Learner profiles related to morphological/syntax-phonological-orthographic (oral and written language disabilities), phonological-orthographic (dyslexia), and orthographic-only (dysgraphia) instructional needs will be presented, and a conceptual framework for selecting tier 3 interventions will be discussed. Overall, interventions related to oral language, spelling-reading, transcription, and composition will be highlighted.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to...
- Define and differentiate between tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 supports and services
- Describe characteristics of tier 3 and the need for a continuum of technically adequate assessment measures and empirically-supported instructional methodologies
- Identify an develop more sophisticated data-analysis and instructional matching skills
