Powerful learning experiences for English Learners offer high challenge with high support and require quality peer interactions and a focus on language. When designing learning experiences, we often focus on the what: the content to be explored. When working with English Learners, the how is particularly important as students develop conceptual, analytic and disciplinary language practices in tandem. Designing instruction that has a focus on language is fundamental to the success of English Learners. This session will address how to design instruction that advances understandings and disciplinary language practices for English Learners.
