Young children's social-emotional development influences their academic and social success later in life. Caring and supportive relationships provide young children with a sense of comfort, safety, and confidence. This session will identify strategies that adults can use to support healthy social-emotional development in young children.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify how social-emotional development unfolds in the first five years of life.
  2. Identify areas of the brain involved in social interactions and emotional interactions.
  3. Identify strategies to support the development of social-emotional skills in young children.

Target Audience

This training is intended for Early Intervention service personnel/providers, early childhood education professionals, and parents.
