This session will empower teachers to use evidence-based strategies for teaching reading to adolescents within core and supplemental instruction as well as intervention settings. It will also explore the process of reading in the adolescent brain.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the brain processes involved in efficient reading
  • List at least 5 skills required for efficient reading
  • Develop instructional routines and/or programs

Target Audience

Administrators, Principals, School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers, General Education Teachers, IU TaC Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate individuals who have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act and who need assistance at this event.
