Offering Considerations for Psychological Counseling as a Related Service is a requirement when a student demonstrates a need for this type of support. There is a new guidance document being released by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Bureau of Special Education that provides information for MDE and IEP teams. This document and training follows the special education process from the legal basis through assessment, identification of need, implementation of service, and monitoring for continued need for eligible students.

Objectives

  • Identify the legal basis and legal requirements associated with PCRS.
  • Define and demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between student need, determined through assessment, the IEP, and receiving appropriate services.
  • List the elements of a successful community agency partnership.
