Equity in education is a broad concept which may include: access, opportunity, culturally responsive/relevant practices, social justice, resource allocation, and self-awareness. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a school improvement framework which provides a structure to ensure students are provided with the supports needed to be successful academically, behaviorally, and social-emotionally. Throughout the series, topics will range from equitable data-based decision making, professional and personal growth, shared ownership, transformational leadership and how to authentically engage families and communities.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the tenets of equitable educational practices as they relate to MTSS in their school or district context.
- Identify components of their school systems which support or inhibit educational equities.
- Engage in reflective and intentional opportunities to evaluate their abilities to embed equity into an MTSS framework.
