This session will provide training in how to deliver The Third Quest, a teacher-directed reading intervention for middle and high school students (grades 5 through adult). Participants will learn how to place students appropriately, teach students behaviors to accelerate learning, deliver lessons effectively, monitor student progress, and adjust instruction. Participants will also learn how to self-monitor instruction for continuous professional development.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Identify ways to motivate students to engage
  • Define the steps needed to provide effective instruction before, during, and after reading.
  • Describe three key factors to monitoring instruction for self-improvement.

Target Audience

Secondary teams participating in various MTSS Series Cohort trainings to include:
Building Principal, General Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, School Psychologist, Speech/Language Therapist, Reading Specialist, ESL Teacher, School Counselor, Academic/Instructional and PBIS Coach, Family/Parent Representative, IU Consultant Support (Academic and Behavioral Expertise), MTSS Coordinator.
