The development of a positive family/school/community engagement relationship is discussed as a direct influence upon the English learner’s academic progress in a MTSS Framework. Strategies related to the initiation and strengthening of culturally and linguistically diverse family/community engagement within the school and classroom are presented with a focus on the acculturation process. Participants will learn of the importance of family engagement as an essential segment of the English learner’s academic plan.
Objectives
Participants will:
- analyze the importance of developing and sustaining visible culturally and linguistically diverse family and community engagement within the MTSS Framework.
- identify strategies to promote English learner’s family and community engagement with a focus on the acculturation process.
- identify the need to communicate the strong value placed upon family engagement with the goal of the student’s academic success in a MTSS Framework.

ESL Teachers, ESL Administrators, Content Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Building Administrators, Counselors
