This course provides participants with an overview of the WIDA Standards Framework, principles of second language acquisition (SLA), and principles of co-teaching and collaboration amongst teachers and specialists. The course then provides an overview of the PLUSS framework and spends ample time establishing and detailing each PLUSS component in relation to supporting English learners in the math classroom. Participants watch interactive videos in each module, completing questions and building a lesson plan that highlights the PLUSS elements. It culminates with the final task of uploading a complete lesson plan showcasing the PLUSS features, as well as a reflection on how to use the PLUSS tool as a self-reflection guide to support microteaching and self-guide professional growth.
