Participants will receive an overview of disproportionality including its definition and calculation. The course will also include definitions of significant disproportionality in relation to special education, including its calculation and methodology for identification. Strategies designed to prevent and respond to disproportionality will be shared. This course will build the capacity of participants to use data to identify disproportionality, identify contributing factors, and engage strategies to mitigate its effect.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Learn the process for the identification of disproportionality.
- Understand the process for the identification of significant disproportionality.
- Identify contributing factors to disproportionality.
- Engage in the process of root cause analysis.
